Unfurl jewelry can (and should!) be worn every day, and last a lifetime. These wearable sculptures leave my maker hands and warm the skin of your body. One of the many beauties of the metal I use is that it is natural and of the earth. It will age and show signs of a life well lived, just like us. This only adds to its character and charm.
I believe in embracing the aging process of my pieces (and our selves) and celebrating perfection in the imperfect. Unfurl jewelry is not plated with metal or coated to keep it from environmental reactions. Your mini works of art will patina over time, and while this adds further individuality and depth, there are things you can do to preserve and restore their inherent luster.
GOLDEN BRONZE
The rich color of the nickel-free bronze I use comes from its high copper content. Like brass which also has a high copper content, bronze will create a patina when exposed to the elements, especially water and humidity. For some people with an acidic PH balance, bronze can cause some discoloration to the skin. This is totally harmless and washes right off.
If you prefer to avoid premature patina, try to keep your pieces as dry as possible. Don't swim or shower while wearing, and dry after washing your hands. Also avoid body lotions, oils, and perfumes.
If you have a fun and sweaty night out (yay, you!) clean your special piece before you hit the hay. Mix a few drops of mild soap with warm water and soak a soft cloth in the solution. Wipe down your piece, then rinse your cloth and wipe down the jewelry again to remove the soap and dirt. Then dry thoroughly and lay out to fully dry before storing in its plush pouch.
For a more thorough cleaning, after washing as above, buff gently with the polishing cloth provided to bring back the luster. If you need a more thorough cleaning, I am happy to offer a deep clean for a small fee.
STERLING SILVER
The tarnish in silver can happen when it comes into contact with the oxygen in the air. Surprisingly, the best way to keep your silver from darkening is to wear it as often as possible. The oils from your skin create a layer that helps prevent tarnishing. Yep, don't save those babies for special occasions.
If you decide to store them long term, it is best to seal them in an air-tight ziploc bag. The polishing cloth included with your order can be used to buff away minor tarnishing. For heavy tarnish, I am happy to deep clean for a small fee.
