Jewelry Care

Unfurl jewelry is designed to be worn, lived in, and treasured for years to come.

Each wearable sculpture leaves my hands and warms against the skin of yours. Because the metals I use are natural and uncoated, they will evolve over time, developing a rich patina and subtle signs of a life well lived. I believe this only adds to their beauty, individuality, and character.

Rather than resisting the aging process, I embrace it. Unfurl pieces are not plated or sealed to prevent environmental reactions. Your jewelry will naturally shift and deepen over time, reflecting both the material itself and the unique way you wear it.

With a little care, your pieces can maintain their luminous finish while continuing to age beautifully.

Golden Bronze Jewelry Care

The rich golden hue of the nickel-free bronze I use comes from its high copper content. Like brass and other copper-rich metals, bronze will naturally develop a patina when exposed to air, moisture, humidity, and the oils of the skin.

For some wearers, bronze may occasionally leave slight discoloration on the skin due to individual pH levels. This is completely harmless and washes away easily with soap and water.

To help preserve luster:

  • Remove jewelry before swimming or showering
  • Dry pieces after washing hands
  • Avoid direct contact with lotions, oils, and perfumes
  • Store pieces in their pouch when not being worn

And if you have a deliciously sweaty night out (good for you), give your piece a quick clean before bed.

Mix a few drops of mild soap with warm water and gently wipe the piece with a soft cloth. Rinse the cloth and wipe again to remove any residue, then dry thoroughly before storing.

For deeper restoration, gently buff your piece with the polishing cloth included with your order to revive its glow.

If your jewelry ever needs extra love, I’m happy to offer professional deep cleaning for a small fee.

Sterling Silver Jewelry Care

Sterling silver naturally tarnishes when exposed to oxygen in the air. Ironically, one of the best ways to help prevent tarnish is simply to wear your jewelry often.

The natural oils from your skin help slow oxidation, so don’t save your favorites only for special occasions.

To care for sterling silver jewelry:

  • Wear pieces regularly
  • Store long-term pieces in an airtight bag
  • Use the included polishing cloth to remove light tarnish
  • Keep away from moisture and humidity when possible

For heavily tarnished pieces, I also offer professional deep cleaning services.
